Raising standards across the curriculum - Middlesbrough F.C Double Club

Boro Double Club was set up using a model from Arsenal FC. The objective is to raise achievement in Numeracy and Literacy.

The pupils receive 3 Numeracy lessons per fortnight and the same for Literacy. Each lesson is followed by a PE lesson where the Numeracy/Literacy is practiced in a practical way.

There are 12 pupils taking part for a period of 12 weeks, the course run three times per academic year.

All lessons are taught through the medium of football and all resources are specially produced, of high quality and branded with the MFC logo.

Evaluations from the first year indicate a high improvement in the attainment of pupils involved.
